Cottage Farmhouse Christmas at Nickels Creek
Read more...Decorating the Christmas tree is always one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season- I usually spread it out over a few days so I can fully soak it all in & enjoy each ornament as I place it on the tree. I have a lot of vintage ornaments that I've collected over the years & each one holds a special place in my heart with lots of memories of how I found them & came across them.

Vintage Cottage Kitchen Lighting & Mixing Metals Throughout Your Home
Read more...One of my favorite ways to bring character & contrast to our home is by mixing metals. Mixing metals is such a fun & easy way to bring a vintage look to your home- like you've been collecting things for years & years. And, you don't have to shy away from it. I love mixing dark brass with oiled brushed bronze & black. These colors all three together make a bold statement. Be sure to mix your metals evenly

New Kitchen Cabinet Paint Color: Two Toned Cottage Kitchen Cabinets
Read more...A few months ago, I decided I wanted two-toned cabinets. I feel like they bring such a classic look to any space- in such an easy way. And the best part? It's easily changeable. The original color I wasn't 100% feeling but I lived with it for a few months to see if I may change my mind. Don't get me wrong, it's still a beautiful color just wasn't the exact color & vibe I was going for.

Fall Cottage Antique Crystal Cabinet: Functional & Decorative
Read more...Pine cabinets are my favorite! They bring such character & charm to any home & any decorating aesthetic. I found ours at a local antique shop- I was so happy when I came across it. I was looking for something tall but narrow to fit our smaller sized living room. I also wanted it to have shelving- since our home is on the smaller side, I wanted a space to store some of my extra kitchen pieces & this was perfect for that. I love collecting crystal pieces & recently on my last yard sale haul- I found some amazing vintage crystal pieces... some even from France.

Adding Wall Cabinets to Your Small Cottage Living Room
Read more...If you've been following my Instagram (krystlemarienickels) & my blog for a little while then you've heard me talk quite a bit about our smaller home. The inside space is slightly under 1,500 sq ft so, it's cute & humble but making extra space & decorating can be a bit of a challenge. Due to the size of most of our rooms, I have to be careful to make sure the rooms aren't decorated in a way that looks cluttery.

Peg Rail Shelving & Accordion Peg Racks in Your Small Cottage Kitchen
Read more...This is the second post in my "small cottage decorating" series. Each blog post highlights a way to make the most of your small cottage spaces- using tips & decorating ideas that I use in our home. Sunday I talked about open shelving (read that here) & today- it's all about peg rail shelfs!
As you can see from the photos, our kitchen doesn't have the most cabinet space so I'm always finding budget friendly ways to bring a little extra storage. As I always say- what is décor if it isn't functional... especially in a small kitchen.

Krystle's Cozy Chili Recipe
Read more...I have always been a chili lover, especially during the cold months. I actually entered a chili contest a looong time ago when we were stationed at MCAS Cherry Point... unfortunately, my chili didn't win but I got so so so many compliments on it. I've slowly changed things up over the years & I'm at a point, right now, where I'm LOVING all of the little tweaks I did here & there to my recipe. It does have a slight kick to it- but it's not too overpowering. You can cook this in 30-45 minutes on the stove. Happy cooking friend!
