5 Tips for Decorating Your Patio For Spring & Summer
Share
I absolutely love being outside- if the weather is nice, that's where you will be sure to find me. Either swimming in the pool, in the shade reading my favorite book or tending to my flowers & gardens.
We added a concrete slab to the side of our house- there is a door there that leads to our garage... we decided to turn this space into a cozy sitting area. The area initially was only grass- we added the concrete slab in the summer of 2022 & then in fall 2022 we built the veranda over the slab. We still have plans to paint the concrete floor & the wood veranda. Since we aren't doing that just quite yet & if you follow me on Insta (krystlemarienickels) you know that I'm big on enjoying a space & making it cozy throughout all of your home "seasons." And when I say seasons... I mean throughout all of the different seasons you may be going through in certain places of your home. And for us, we aren't done yet... so we are still in the "getting it done" season. This space will serve as our outdoor grilling & dining area but I did cozy it up a little for now & I'm sharing with you... 5 tips on how to cozy up your own patio area for spring & summer. You can find links to some of my favorite outdoor & gardening décor (here).
Tip 1: Use natural elements like fruits & veggies. I used fresh lemons & limes in a tall clear vase, added water & added my favorite fresh flowers. This is an easy way to add a pop of color. Artichokes are another great decorative accent- you can use these as a bowl filler for your favorite bowl.
Tip 2: Greenery & flowers instantly give a boost to your space & add an element of cozy- create beautiful floral arrangements as an eye catcher & centerpiece. I also love using ferns on my patio spaces- there's just something about them that I absolutely love.
Tip 3: Don't forget your sitting area. You can use a couch, chairs, a dining table set- whichever you decide be sure to add your favorite throw pillows & blankets for a decorative touch & also for those chilly summer evenings.
Tip 4: Use your tablecloth for small end tables. This gives a cozy & flowy look to your end table as it moves in the breeze.
Tip 5: Lighting- I love using solar lanterns. These are an economical way to bring a fun cozy element to your space. I like using larger sized lanterns for a more dramatic appeal. Another favorite of mine is doing a little local antiquing to find unique older lanterns- the kerosene lanterns & lamps are my favorite- I love a natural cozy fire element.
