Practical Tips to Use When Decorating Your Fall Cottage Home

Decorating for fall doesn't have to be extravagant & costly. Transitioning from summer to fall in your home can be as simple as you'd like. For me, since I start decorating for fall a little earlier than most people... I like adding subtle touches throughout our home. Fall leaf stems, gourds & pumpkins are perfect when creating a cozy, simple fall aesthetic. I like to chose neutral but warm tones to decorate as they compliment my home décor the best. I always suggest choosing seasonal colors that compliment your home rather than choosing random colors each holiday season. And candles are always the perfect complimentary addition to your décor. I have used this mirror on our mantel throughout this year- it is a versatile piece... changing up your décor doesn't mean you have to completely buy new pieces for every season. Working with what you have will always create fun new looks.

I'm a huge fan of using what you already have. Each season, I add a little bit to my décor collection but I have tubs full of all different types of décor- I love switching things out often & creating fun new looks. If you have the space, I highly recommend investing in sturdy storage containers & labeling them so that before you begin decorating- you can take a quick inventory of what you have & start brainstorming about what décor you would like to add. This is also a great time to go through any décor for the season that you may want to get rid of... it's the perfect time to list these on Facebook Marketplace or host a yard sale. I try to sell my décor during each season... for example, Christmas décor I will start selling in November. Also a great way to get a little extra spending money for any new décor you may have your eye on. Shop my mantel décor (here).

I absolutely love styling our open shelving- it's another favorite spot of mine in our home. By simply adding two little coordinating pumpkin mugs- I brought a bit of fall to this space without it being overbearing & without having to completely redecorate this space. Not everyone has the time to completely redecorate each season. By adding something simple like these pumpkin mugs- you create a quick & easy way to bring a little more fall to your home. It literally took a few seconds & I love the way it looks. Adding these small touches to different spaces around your home are key to creating a cozy fall home.

This look only took about 30 minutes to create. The colors all flow beautifully & it isn't too overwhelming with colors. I recommend finding a tablecloth you love first & then decorating your table around the colors in the tablecloth. I'm continuing to use my water hyacinth plate chargers- I chose these because they can be used throughout any season. As a home décor blogger, it's super important to me to be practical in my decorating & inspo I share with you & one way I share being practical is by sharing my love of using versatile home décor pieces. Not everything needs changed every season. You can shop my dining table décor pieces (here).

And, just because it's fall...it doesn't mean you have to put up your greenery. Plants look beautiful out all year round & I especially love pairing the fall leaf stems with my everyday plants. Bringing the outdoors... in... will always be a timeless & classic cozy look. Happy decorating friend!
