Using Antique/Vintage Framed Art in Your Home: Fall & Halloween
Share
I absolutely adore antique/vintage framed art. You can find these at your local flea market, Goodwill, antique shops, Etsy & more. What's best though is when you have a piece of vintage art work in your home that is a family heirloom- that's just what this piece of art is in our home. It was Garrett's grandfathers & last year it became ours & we LOVE it- especially this time of year. Framed art is an easy way to bring a big statement to your space. I especially love using them on our mantel- this is such a beautiful space to decorate & creates a gorgeous focal point in your home.
On Etsy, you can find several artists who offer download & print at home options. These work great- you can send it to be printed at Staples, CVS, Walgreens... then take a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to find the perfect frame. You can make the art as big or as small as you'd like to fit your space accordingly. Another place to get them printed is at Smallwood Home- they are a fabulous printing company with real wood frames.
If you chose a moody fall print- these colors are super easy to transition from fall décor to Halloween décor but still have that upscale cottage vibe to it. Adding candlesticks, old vintage books, cloches, fall leaves & vintage looking pumpkins... all help tie the look together. A moody fall/Halloween will always be my favorite. There's just something so cozy about all of these colors together, especially in the evening when the candles are lit & you're sitting down watching Hocus Pocus. Give me all of the spooky cozy vibes!
I was so happy this year to be able to snag a pair of these handmade porcelain ghosts from Mollie Jenkins Pottery. They are only available once a year & sell out FAST. I missed out last year so I was so excited to be able to get a set this year. It helps tie together the vintage look on our mantel & I love how the white color contrasts with the vintage framed art.
Next time you're out doing a little antique shopping- don't be afraid to stop & take a look at some of the vintage art work- they are usually all beautiful & timeless pieces to add to your décor collection. Be sure to pick pieces that are versatile & can work with at least 2 decorating seasons: spring/summer & fall/Halloween, winter/Christmas. They don't need to be season specific but just hold the colors & vibe of the season.
